Tsardom of Blowgaria: Firearms

Renown bowponies, Blowgaria didn't get its first firearms until they were literally dropped into their laps on the eve of Macedonkia's invasion of Vulpesylvania. While they used some Herdintern Pact arms initially, they immediately set out to make their own. In the end, they based them largely on the designs they captured from the invaders, to make matters more simple. Helping the Blowgarian cause, they had both a decent manufacturing base, and widespread use of electricity, making it possible to have factories produce weapons day and night, with electrically powered equipment.

The Arcus pistol is based both on Ambleonian-donated Hi-Power pistols, and on Macedonkian captured Ambleonian Hi-Power Pistols. How the Macedonkian invaders got these weapons isn't fully known, but Tirek was suspected to be the source. The pistol is simply named the Model 1005, though is usually referred to by the name of its manufacturer. As it is a Hi-Power semi-clone, it's a relaible, proven design, though the measurements are somewhat different, and the pistol is a bit smaller over all, making it a good middle ground between a police and combat pistol.

Named for the location of the battle that defeated the Insurgents, the Samokov SMG is an original design based on Zhukov SMG's captured from the Insurgents. Finding the side-insert magazine arragement not ideal to certain situations, the feed was rotated to the bottom of the receiver, and the weapon shortened, mainly by wrapping the main spring around the barrel, essentially flipping the recoil system back-to-front. This results in a VERY small SMG that can even work with the stock removed. It small size fits it into the "Personal Defense Weapon" category, instead of a full-sized Sub-Machine Gun.

The compact version of the AR-1/05, the AR-2/05 is intended for use by special operations teams, but is also assigned to other secondary billets, like logistic troops, vehicle crews, and artillery units. As with the AR-1/05, the stock is based on the Bradley, and was the last part designed.

Arsenal's Automatic Rifles are based on a refined version of the Herdiet AK-72. Chambering it for 7x40mm NEIGHTO was a literal last minute choice, but as it turned out, a very simple and easier conversion than locating the proper sizing dies for Herdiet barrel measurements. The design was nearly complete already when Blowgaria joined the Vulpine Alliance during the Vulpine War of Reconquest. The only thing missing was a stock, and the stock from the Bradley assault rifle was adapted. Over all, the design is very solid, though a bit heavy compared to some other NEIGHTO designs. The very first few of these were available for the Counter-Assault on Procellopolis, with the very first off the line presented to Tsar Studenogrub himself.

As the Blowgarian rifle platoon differs in structure from the Equestrian model, they issue an Automatic Rifle to two of the Squads in the 5-squad Platoon, to function as a suppressive fire weapon. The SAW-1/05 is an AR-1/05 with a longer barrel and bipod, but is otherwise identical. Blowgaria developed longer, 45-round magazines to help keep the sustained fire rate up for SAW gunners without adding too much bulk to their load out, and keep them almost as nimble as a Riflepony.

The Blowgarian rifle platoon provides for two Designated Marksponies in the 5-squad structure, so, two Squads are assigned a Designated Markspony each. The Precision Automatic Rifle is their weapon. Issued exclusively with 20-round magazines with the heavier, specializd ammunition developed for precision rifle use, the Squad Designated Markspony becomes a very nimble asset, able to engage targets at the same ranges as the SAW Gunners, but with single precise shots to eliminate enemy personnel, not just suppress them.

Blowgaria entered NEIGHTO after the NEIGHTO Light Sniper Program completed, but never the less, adapted a weapon to fit the project. In this case, they adapted the SK-71 rifle receiver to the task, and made the weapon semi-automatic only. They kept it in exactly the same size factor as the SAW-1/05 and PAR-1/05 to minimize the ability for enemy sharpshooters to pick out snipers when they're among friendly troops and eliminate them before they can deploy, or when they work with Rifle Platoons when attached from a higher level.

Blowgaria issues shotguns almost exclusively to police units, but they are in inventory at the Regiment-level for deployment to Rifle Companies entering Urban areas. The shotgun is, like most in NEIGHTO, a copy - in this case, its lineage comes from the Germane KSF-1, which was derived from the Buckner from Equestria. It's a direct copy with local furniture.

The LMG-1/05 is based on the Abrams machine gun, and combined with some elements of the AR-1/05 series to create a GPMG that's uniquely Blowgarian. Blowgaria does use the same Regiment structure as the rest of NEIGHTO, with a Weapons Company attached at the Regiment Level, set up with 2 Machine Gun Platoons, and 1 Anti-Tank Platoon. As mentioned above, they also issue an Automatic Rifle at the Rifle Platoon level as well, enabling them to output a higher fire volume per-pony.

Directly based on the Equestrian Funston and Herdiet RPG launchers, the Blowgarian solution is pretty standard, but also includes a flare at the rear of the launcher to better dissepate the backblast. In every other regard, it's just as effective as the Funston and other Rocket-Propelled Grenade Launchers in NEIGHTO.
