The XY-series vessels remaining in the time-frozen capital of the Crystal Kingdom for 1,000 years are none the worse for wear, though they required the installation of weapons, as they were never meant to be used in combat. Instead, they were pleasure vessels, or transportation for Officials to other cities within the Kingdom. Reconditioned, they have the same effective role as Air Warships as a Patrol Gunboat - extremely light armament, and designed for scouting or to cover larger vessels while in harbor, or as close protection. They're also used as landing and special operations transport craft. With enough room to hold up to 32 troops, the four remaining vessels, between them, can transport two whole companies of Crystal Kingdom Aero Marines, AND get them to an altitude where they can perform parachute drops. |

With the inability to directly reproduce the XY series, the remaining airship designers in the Crystal Kingdom decided to design new vessels with better combat survivability. Hence, the XZ's or "Zeds." Longer, with a more powerful engine system, and four lifter fans instead of just two, and two propeller fans instead of one, the Zeds are far more reliable and much more useful in a combat situation. The increased length isn't too great, and they retain the thin profile of the XY's, with an expanded and re-shaped gas bag, giving actual positive bouyancy at a "zeroed out" load. Range is increased as well, and unlike the XY's, the Zeds can equip an emergency aerofoil sail for powerless propulsion, provided the weight load is low enough to provide neutral bouancy in the air. "Gunboat" types may mount rocket racks in the rear instead of passengers, or mount 25mm autocannons intended for ships. |

The "Sentinel-class" Aero Frigates were commissioned in 945 B.C. (Before Celestia), and had largely been removed from front line service by the time the Crystal Kingdom fell victim to the spell that locked it away for 1000 years. Originally armed with "Arrownal" racks to fight Griffons, and deck crews with crossbows, the very light armament of the "Sentinel" class was part of the reason for their retirement for the follow-on "Excelsior-class." However, no "Excelsior-class" vessels were known to have survived by 1004 C.S. Two vessels were in the Royal Airship Dock at the palace, awaiting conversion to Royal Aeroyachts. Rearmed by Equestria, the Frigates boast impressive 90mm guns for anti-air combat in vertically fixed mounts that have a 24-degree horizontal traverse, and older 75mm Mountain Guns on port-to-starboard sliding mounts designed by Major Norfy Loconsole of the Equestrian Army, as well as fourteen 11mm EM-4 Browning machine gun dual mounts. In addiiton, the ships can carry a compliment of Aero Marines or passengers. |

Based on a partially completed hull, with parts and design pointers from the missing Dreadnaught, the Centaur was launched in late-1003 C.S., with its sister ship, Enterprise launched four months later. Very heavily armed, these two Aerocruisers were considered giants, and the largest air vessels in use by any NEIGHTO nation. In terms of sea vessels, it's only seven meters shorter than the Celestia-class Battleships. |
