Kingdom of Dragonshire: Firearms

Surprisingly enough, Dragonshire had industry that exceeded Equestria. Fully electric homes, even mass transportation. So, they took their time when designing weapons. Taking cues from what was available across NEIGHTO, they worked to make weapons that best fit a Dragon's ergonomics, better so than Pony weapons. The result is a very full catalogue of weapons covering many contingencies, and some unique arms that aren't fieldable by any other Factions.

Developed for police use before official cooperation between nations began, the Model 1002 Revolver by S&W Arms was the first firearm created for Dragons. While they wer estill fairly experimental, the cartridge developed was based on the 9x18mm Equestrian projectile, and the casing of the 10mm Dan Filly Arms series of calibers, as well as early Dan Filly swing-out cylinder revolvers. Wanting something more "dragon sized," S&W Arms more or less made these in secret, and while they were issued to Draconic Police by 1003 C.S., they were carefully controlled. The Model 1002 comes in two barrel lengths - 2.5-inch for plainclothesdragons, and 4-inch for patrol and uniform police officers. The round itself pushes the limits of the Earth .38 Special round, with a 158gr/10.24g projectile reaching a velocity of 1004fps/306 m/s, for a decent 480j of muzzle energy from the 4-inch barrel model. Compare this to the original 9x18mm Equestrian loading, which got about 415j from the Lee pistol, or the later 9x23mm NEIGHTO round that develops about 530j from the Morgan pistol.

Dragonshire military logistics and training personnel enjoyed the Morgan pistol, but found it a bit small for Dragon use. So, they made the frame a double-stack magazine, and lengthened the barrel and slide, for a longer, heavier, more precise, and better ranged weapon. For a Dragon, even a 6-inch barreled weapon can vanish under street clothes. Especially larger ones. While the Dragonshire Army issues the 9mm NEIGHTO M2 Pistol to the army, they developed another version for themselves. Internally, it's referred to as the Salamander pistol, or just the "M2."

Developed specifically for Dragon use, the standard 200gr/13g .460 AutoMag cartridge develops ~1000j from the muzzle, and has a variety of bullet options. A sub-sonic load also exists, along with extended, threaded barrels for special operations teams. They renamed this pistol the Drake.

M-3 "Greaser"

The M3 Greaser is a very simple SMG, and costs a mere 15 Bits to make. Made from stamped sheet metal, despite its numerical designation, it was the first weapon made by Dragons to be issued to Dragons, and it continues to be mass produced. It's issued to a variety of billets in the Dragonshire military, but especially to Police, Special Forces (with a threaded barrel), and Logistics or Artillery troops.

A large weapon for a large species, the M-1 Grand Rifle was constructed from the ground up to be used by Dragons. A more customzied version is in use as a DMR. It can fire on full automatic at 900 rounds per minute, a rate of fire too much for most Ponies, but easy for a Dragon to handle. The manual of arms and ease of training makes this a fine weapon to introduce new soldiers to combat rifles with. It certainly out-performs every other standard NEIGHTO Rifle.

The M-4 Carbine is a cut-down M-1 Rifle, and is issued to larger Dragons that would be in the same billets that an M-3 SMG would be issued, as an option, to account for their greater size. This "Carbine" to a Dragon is a full sized Assault Rifle to the rest of NEIGHTO.

The Ebon is an accurized M-1, with a bipod and adjustable cheek rest. It also features, by default, a 1-6x40mm optic for extended range shooting. The barrel length of the M-5 and the scope, combined, easily allow the M-5 to reach out to the maximum range of the sniper loads for the 7mm NEIGHTO round.

The Jack is the rifle designed to comply with the NEIGHTO Light Sniper Program. An adaptation of the "Grand" Rifle, it's rechambered, and the receiver of the Grand was designed from the ground up to accomodate this caliber change.

The M-6 Strike Machine Gun uses a different recoil system than the Abrams, and its derivatives, giving it a simpler mechanism, but a larger one. No problem for a Dragon, of course. This larger machine gun does have a shorter "Assault" barrel, for special operations teams, and others that need the sustained fire ability, but less mass. It has a quick-change barrel system not unlike the Abrams, and can technically attach an Abrams barrel, but the gas systems won't align, making such a configuration a single-shot weapon.

For a full sized adult Dragon in exceptional physical condition, 84lbs is nothing. Thus, Dragonshire decided to make the EM-4 Browning into a portable machine gun for the largest of Dragons. A Heavy Machine Gun Platoon now functions like a Medium Machine Gun Squad, with multiple Heavy Machine Guns deployed like the rest of NEIGHTO would deploy a Medium Machine Gun support unit. The same structure applies to these HMG Squads - a Gunner, Assistant Gunner, and two Ammo Bearers, instead of requiring a whole Squad to deploy it in a fully fixed position. A special bipod was also created to allow the forward grip to be slotted in to a more permanent fixture, and still function in the suppressive fire role.

The Persuader Shotgun comes in both pistol grip and rifle stock configurations. It does NOT use the standard NEIGHTO detachable tube magazine, but it does use the standard Brass shells issued by NEIGHTO. It's also a pump-action shotgun, not a semi-auto. This sets it distinctly apart from every other Shotgun in NEIGHTO. However, despite being larger, it's the same weight as other similar shotguns. The Dragons have also created a special incendiary shell that sends a shower of flaming magnesium over a 15-meter cone in front of the weapon, called the "Dragon's Breath" shell.

A ground-breaking development in weapons technology, the Ifrit Recoiless Rifle was adopted across NEIGHTO starting War Day 1140, after the weapon being battle tested in the Dragonshire Incident. Able to defeat even the heaviest Tirek tanks, it out-performed the Walker/Funston system in most every metric. Aluminum walled with a steel liner, the Ifrit is heavy, but the power it projects is beyond argument. For Dragons, the weapon is easily shoulder-carried. For quadrupeds, a two-wheel brace was developed for it to be carried behind the user, that could also be folded down to use as a bipod brace in an entrenched position. As with the Walker/Funston-alike weapons, it requires a Gunner and Assistant Gunner. Unlike with the Walker/Funston, more rounds can be carried by an anti-tank weapons platoon for the same weight, and with far more options - Anti-Tank, Incendiary, Anti-Structure, illumination, smoke, and more.
