Principality of Vulpesylvania: Firearms

Vulpesylvania, realizing the threats they faced from the Herdiet Union (their neighbor across a small sea), as well as learning of Tirek's return, petitioned Poleland for assistance, assuming the Empire of Roam might still be hostile. Limited war aid was given from what Equestria supplied them. Already having a limited heavy industry, the Government created a Government-backed semi-private enterprise - the National Fabricators Government Joint Stock Company. This company oversees the production of all Vulpian arms for the military and private consumption. As a cultural note, they named their weapons after their own Gods. Of course, as they have independently flexible digits like Canids, all their weapons use proper triggers.

The "Poseidon" pistol is one of the larger sidearms used in NEIGHTO, but this longer barrel means a better sight picture, more weight to fight recoil, and a bit more velocity. While a hefty weapon, it's superbly well balanced, and durable as a brick, with decent ergonomics.

The Perseus is an adapted Athena with a Pallas stock, and is mainly used by the National Police, though is also issued to second-line troops. With a suppressor, it's sometimes used by Special Forces Squadrons. It's also the standard billet weapon for Regulators. The Vulpesylvanians developed an especially hot 9x23mm AP load with a mild steel core capable of penetrating about an inch of armor steel (25mm) at ranges under 50 meters, yet also fragments/yaws well in soft tissue, causing a lot of damage. The Perseus uses the same bolt (though smaller) as the Athena series, allowing it to take this kind of punishment. The Ridgway can use these rounds in an emergency, but the Koenig really should not.

Designed as a compact SMG/PDW for Vulepsylvanian special forces, as a better alternative to the M-1, the internal "F-90" designation comes from the base description of "Feed at 90 degrees." The unusual magazine well has an adapter in it that allows standard NEIGHTO-compatible SMG magazines to be inserted, or the Apollo's own unique 48-round magazines. The Vulpesylvanians did create a special trigger kit to allow use by races without fingers. The weapon is a perfect mirror image on both sides, making it completely ambidexterous.

The R-01 Athena is a rather unique rifle in design, but it uses a long stroke gas piston. It does, however, have several unique features. First, it's intended to use Rifle Grenades instead of a 40mm Grenade Launcher. As such, it has an adjustable gas regulator located just above the barrel at the front. Pressing it in will switch between Rifle Grenade mode (which closes the gas port entirely, making a single-shot weapon), and normal mode. The regulator can also be turned to three different positions to let more gas into the system if necessary - such as adverse conditions, arctic conditions, and so on. Lastly, it uses a "tube-handle bayonet" that slips over the whole barrel and locks just behind the large compensator/flash hider. It also has a built-in notch to accept a bipod, and with a longer barrel and scope, can be used as a precision rifle.

"Pallas" is an epithet for Athena, the word itself meaning either "to brandish" (like a weapon), or "to be youthful." And the Pallas Carbine is a smaller version of the Athena rifle, like a little sister, hence the name. Besides a roughly 3/4 length barrel, the Pallas uses a smaller stock for even more compact carrying. Other than that, it's just like an Athena, even retaining the ability to fire Rifle Grenades (though, with a notable loss of range, given the lower velocity of the round from the shorter barrel). It's generally issued to special operations squadrons for those in a scouting or secondary role, like Comms or Medics.

Adding a bipod, longer barrel, and a Fero 3.6x24mm scope to the Athena, the Artemis is a fine precision rifle. A bit heavier, a bit longer, but still well balanced. The flash suppressor on both barrels are threaded, so they can accept a suppressor.

The heavy hitter, Heracles shotguns use the same system as the Equestrian Chaffee, with a different receiver. They also use the Chaffee-style sighting rib. This weapon was derived from two example Chaffees supplied by the Polelish government. The Heracles is compatible with NEIGHTO-standard ejectable shotgun tube magazines. While larger than a Chaffee or a Buckner, it is better sized to Foxes as a result. Heracles shotguns are primarily used by the National Police for urban combat, and Engineer units as a stand-off ordinance disruptor. It also sees some use in Special Operations Squadrons as a door breaching tool.

The Dionysus is ready to party, just like its namesake. Lighter than the Abrams, but longer, the Dionysus has the same length barrel. Given that Foxes are roughly 7/8ths human scale, versus a Pony's 3/4ths (or, 6/8ths), the scale difference makes the Dionysus about as relatively long and maneuverable in a Fox's paws, as a standard Earth Light Machine Gun might be in a human's. The bipod and handle fold for storage, and like the Abrams, the Dionysus sports a NEIGHTO-standard optic rail. For all intents and purposes, the Dionysus is equal to - perhaps slightly better than - an Abrams. Just like an Abrams, it's designed to be mounted numerous places, and can even have the stock entirely removed for installation at a fixed position, or in tight quarters, like inside an armored vehicle.

The Hestia Rifle Grenade functions as an armor-penetrating grenade, but also functions very well as a fragmentation grenade. It has a blast radius of about 6 meters, but within that radius, has a roughly 70% coverage within 4 meters of impact, with each fragment having the velocity of a pistol round, making it quite deadly. The AP effect is enough to penetrate Duregar APC's and some lighter tanks. The Grenade can also be used as a hand grenade. With the launch tube retracted, it can be bashed on the back fins on a hard surface, to forcibly activate the fuse. It has a 4 second delay.
