My Little Pony: Warfare is Magic

Kingdom of Hippogriffia-Marelantis: Warships (Royal Hippogriffia-Marelantean Navy)

No drydocks, no ports, no naval faciltiies, not even a small wooden dock for dinghys. Hippogriffia-Marelantis had absolutely nothing. So, what does an alliance do, when a new member has zero, but needs stuff? The answer is simple - give them their old things whenever possible. As such, Equestria gave Hippogriffia-Marelantis its older cruisers and light ships around War Day 1250. With no capital ships, however, the Hippogriffian fleet is restricted in what combat operations it can undertake independently. As such, the fleet is dispersed as "cadre ships" in NEIGHTO Naval Formations for Prance, Ambleon, and Roam, substituting or enhancing the capabilities of other fleets and task forces.
As the island of Mount Airs has no naval ports of significance, the Hippogriffian fleet is afforded a temporary home port on Sardineigha at Cagliari.
Hippogriffia uses the prefix "HHMS" (Her Hippo-Marelantian Ship) for its vessels.

It was considered uneconomical to upgrade the Neighvada and Maresechusetts to "Atomic Era" levels, considering they started life as "Edwardian Era" ships. However, the need to arm Equestria's new allies took precedence. Equestria could just produce more Konzas-class vessels for itself, but its drydocks were occupied with that - and as the Hippogriffs needed vessels as soon as possible, it was simply agreed that Equestria would use non-drydock slipways at Rowed Island, Manehattan and Baleston to modernize its oldest vessels for them. Many upgrades were added. Besides a complete radar suite, Equestria jumped as far ahead in Anti-Aircraft capability as possible, with the installation of radar-directed, computer-targeted Anti-Aircraft RIM-1 "Tartarus" Guided Missiles, and Guns of 57mm Cannon and 20mm Gatling size. With an anti-air sector covering 32km with the Tartarus Missiles, 12.5km for the 57mm guns, and 1.5km for the 20mm Gatling Guns, both "long" and "short" ranges are well covered by guns expected to engage Tirek's early Ramjet and Rocket aircraft. It does not have any anti-submarine protection, however, and relies on other vessels for that capability.

Other modifications include an expanded bridge and CIC, to allow the ships to be used as Force Flagships. The crew requirements were reduced with early/lower tech implementations of automation, allowing the vessels to be very efficient, as well as VERY capable. They're still recognizable as early Equestrian ships, as the top of the "circular cone" superstructure was retained as a flying bridge. The addition of helicopters - replacing the superflurous scout planes - allows the ships to transfer personnel and perform various other light utility aircraft duties.

With two more of the limited number sunk in the Naval Battle of the Mareterranian Sea, the remaining three units of the Baleson/Martingalier-class were going to be laid up in exchange for more units of the Reino-class anyway, so transferring them to Marelantis was only natural. Outfitting them was another matter - it was decided to hand over the latest technology in anti-submarine weaponry, and use this class as the testbed for it. The "Slate" Guided ASW Missile is a missile that is guided by radar and sonar to the approximate location of the enemy submarine, whereupon it drops a self-guided torpedo with a range of 4km, that uses active sonar to track its target. This makes the new Timaeus-class the first Guided Missile Cruisers. It also mounts the Mk. 12 "Archer" Sonar Guided Torpedo, and as the original compliment of eight 5-inch guns was deemed insufficient, four single (mostly automated) 5-inch guns were added.

The former Bellerophon-class frigates were heavily reconstructed and rebuilt into these. Receiving the same RUM-2 Guided weapon system as the light cruisers of the Hippogriffian fleet, and the amazing RIM-1 "Tartarus" AAA Missile, the first Guided Missile Destroyers were born. The addition of four guided torpedo launchers, each with a 6km range and a top speed of 33 knots, makes these vessels very deadly, and very high tech. Despite being testbeds for this new tech, built on ships originally designed for Edwardian-era warfare, they proved to be vital assets.
