Empire of Neighpon: Firearms

While Neighpon received a great deal of War Aid from Equestria, the moment his nation was freed, Emperor no Ken demanded his industrial facilities begin producing their own arms as soon as possible. The easiest thing to do was to produce more Bradley rifles, but with locally produced furniture, at first. Later on, more weapons of indigenous design were made. Neighpon transformed several major industrial companies over to producing weapons and ammo.

Type 33 "Yumi"

The Type 33 Yumi is a fairly standard pistol in the NEIGHTO alliance, with a 10 + 1 round capacity, and good balance. The slide release is a button that's easily poked by a hoof tip, but only activates when the slide is pulled ALL the way to the rear, so the chamber can be inspected, or the weapon disassembled.

Developing the telescoping bolt, Neighpon was able to make their SMG into a PDW. Every billet that would require both an SMG and a Pistol, is issued only this instead, and more ammunition. The handiness of a weapon this small when folded, that can still be fired this way, can't be understated. Requiring an extra large holster, most Ponies can fit this along the side of their bodies, or in a flank holster at an angle. The holster itself automatically deploys the foregrip when the weapon is drawn, too, allowing an immediate two-hoof/hand grip. A Human/Canidan version was presented to General K.

A standard Bradley, but with a folding stock instead of a collapseable one. The adapter for the Type-34 "Ryu no Yari" (Dragon Lance) Grenade Launcher (a copy of the Gavin) is much more simple than the Bradley's adapter, and can be mounted and dismounted with the removal of the front pivot pin, installation of the adapter rail (with launcher), and replacement of the pivot pin with the Gremade Launcher's pin. There's even a slot for the original pivot pin, in a small compartment in the stock.

An indigenous design, the Sumitomo "Fire Lance" MMG has the same capabilities as the Abrams, with its ability to be mounted to a fixed position on the fly. The steel used is heavier and tougher than Equestrian steel, but the weapon system is guaranteed to remain servicable and not require either a new barrel or parts replacement for an astonishing 50,000+ rounds. Barrels are rated to 5,000 rounds of continuous firing (that is, firing a 5,000 round belt without stopping) before overheating and warping, and as a result, do NOT require a barrel change in combat conditions (compared to an Abrams/Merrill barrel that should be changed after two belts of continuous fire). They do, however, pay the piper with a higher overall system weight.

As they rebuilt their arms capabilities, Neighpon participated in the "NEIGHTO Light Sniper Standard" program, along with Equestria, Germaneigh, Roam, and Ambleon. This program sought to make a single standard sniper rifle round across all NEIGHTO forces. The Germane 7mm W-Kugel round was used as a benchmark of bare minimum performance from this new caliber, but greater velocity and terminal energy was desired, along with better armor penetration using standard tool steel as the penetrator instead of exotic materials like Tungsten. The result was the 8x60mm round. To fire it, Shin-Chuō/Nambu Industries developed a semi-automatic rifle based on the action of the Germane SSG-01/02, but with refinements to the system, resulting in lower total weight.
