Kingdom of Poleland: Firearms

When it came to handing out initial war aid, Poleland got all the leftovers from everyone else. While this was a minor logistical nightmare, it gave them an opportunity to pick the best from what was available, and make it their own. Captured AK-72's from the UHSR proved to be more durable for the.. "enthusiastic" use of the bayonet that was instilled in every Pole, so, their chosen rifle system would be based on this pattern. Poleland already had a very strong martial tradition - unusual in Europe - and had a professionally-trained, war-ready Regiment-sized Heavy Cavalry formation known as the Royal Winged Hussars. Trained on lance and sword, the Hussars were the first to convert to firearms, as if a weapon wouldn't last in the hooves of a Husssar, it was unworthy to equip the rest of Poleland's sons and daughters.

The heft of the "Casimir" pistol is about the same as other NEIGHTO pistols, despite it being a bit on the large size. Nothing extremely unusual exists about its design, being heavily based on the Morgan Pistol, save that it has a vague groove along the top strap designed to naturally gather light and make instinctive aiming easier. It's close enough in design to the Morgan that they can use each other's magazines, with perhaps a bit of "percussive parts fitting."

Based on the AK-72 system, the "Paul" uses a long stroke gas piston with a long recoil travel, unlike most other NEIGHTO weapons that have a rather short travel. Combined with the weight of the weapon, this is enough of a difference to make a difference in felt recoil, leading to steadier shooting, especially in full automatic. The rate of fire, thanks to the long bolt travel, is low for a NEIGHTO rifle at 600 rounds-per-minute, compared to 720 on a Bradley. The slightly longer barrel allows slightly better mechanical precision at range, as well.

The Witold is intended for special operations troops, and is a sub-machine gun sized weapon, with the close range punch of an assault rifle. Folded, it's a very tiny package, even by Pony standards. Both it and the full sized variant can accept suppressors and any NEIGHTO-standardized accessory. Like Equestria, the Polelish also developed an under-slung grenade launcher, which can even be adapted to this weapon. Both weapons feature fold-down hoof-guards.
