My Little Pony: Warfare is Magic

Kingdom of Prance: Firearms

Prance siezed upon the concept of arms production faster and with more gusto than Ambleion or Germaneigh, directly requesting the aid of General K in creating a unique weapon design that they felt offered them an advantage. In general, several Prench companies and national arsenals jumped into the fray. Among them was the Industrial Arms Society of St. Chamond, headed by Professor LeFaucheux, a highly respected engineer and inventor, the Saint Chamond and Saint Etienne national armories, and the Chatellerault Armaments Plant. Together, and in very Prench fashion, they developed their own arms, while also handling arsenal work of donated firearms from Equestria. The 5,000 XER-3 Patton Rifles ordered and partially assembled were largely split between Prance (1,934) and Germaneigh (2,117), with the remainder donated to Neighpon (949). Prance directly adapted the Patton for the 7mm NEIGHTO cartridge.

Pistolet Automatique, Modéle №1 (P1)
WEAPON TYPE: Double Action Semi-Automatic Pistol
MANUFACTURERS: Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault
VARIANT MARKS: No official mark variations
CALIBER: 9x23mm NEIGHTO
CAPACITY: 9 + 1 Round Magazine
EFFECTIVE RANGE: 50 meters
BARREL LENGTH: 112mm/4.4 inches
OVERALL LENGTH: 208mm/8.1 inches
OVERALL HEIGHT: 148mm/5.82 inches
TOTAL MASS: 2.1lbs/0.9kg
The PA MASE P1 pistol is fairly conventional as far as Equus semi-auto hoofgun designs go, and has a standard 9-round magazine that actually interchanges with the Morgan, as the magazine catches are almost exactly the same. Morgans, however, can't feed P1 magazines unless pressed in further than normal, and while this does work, it's not advised except in an emergency. The P1 is smaller and lighter than the Morgan, but not by too much. Until after The Quirtbeck Incident, Prench officers were NOT issued long arms, only a pistol and sword, and this was it, along with three magazines, for 28 total rounds of ammunition, and were not expected to engage the enemy, despite every formation larger than a Squad being led by an officer.

Pistolet-Mitrailleur de 9 mm Modéle 4 (MAT-4/9)
WEAPON TYPE: Sub-Machine Gun
MANUFACTURERS: Manufacture d'armes de Tulle
VARIANT MARKS: No official mark variations
CALIBER: 9x23mm NEIGHTO
CAPACITY: 32 Round Detachable Box Magazine
EFFECTIVE RANGE: 200 meters
BARREL LENGTH: 236mm/9.3 inches
OVERALL LENGTH: 650mm/25.6 inches (stock extended)
488mm/19.3 inches (stock retracted)
OVERALL HEIGHT: 290mm/11.4 inches
TOTAL MASS: 7.2lbs/3.26kg
Released well after the Quirtbeck Incident, the MAT-4/9 sub machine gun is a bit strange. The magazine can be partially ejected and the magazine well folded forwards, to lock into the retracted stock, allowing the weapon to be carried safely in an oversized holster. At the press of a tab, the stock extends and the magazine well snaps down, with the bolt open, to allow the user to simply tap the magazine bottom all the way into the magazine well, and ready the weapon for immediate action. As they say, "The Prench copy no one, and no one copies the Prench." The weapon is mainly issued to Gendarmes, but started to be issued to officers to suppliment the issue of only a pistol, by 1005 C.S.

Fusil Automatique, Modéle 1002 (FA Md. 1002)

The Modéle 1002 is a Patton given as War Aid to Prance that has been rechambered to 7mm NEIGHTO, and intended to arm the Prench Foreign Legion only. The conversion was designed by Professor LeFaucheux himself, to be as cost effective and simple as possible.

Fusil Automatique, Modéle 1002 Modifiè (FA Md. 1002M)
WEAPON TYPE: Assault Rifle
MANUFACTURERS: Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Etienne
VARIANT MARKS: No official mark variations
CALIBER: 7x40mm NEIGHTO
CAPACITY: 30 Round Detachable Box Magazine
EFFECTIVE RANGE: 400 meters
BARREL LENGTH: 368mm/14.5 inches
OVERALL LENGTH: 810mm/31.8 inches
OVERALL HEIGHT: 220mm/8.66 inches
TOTAL MASS: 9lbs/4.08kg
After the Quirtbeck Incident, the dismissal of Marshal of Prance Canterdon Monet, and the loss of almost a full company of Legionnaires being blamed directly on the disgustingly poor redesign of the Patton to take 7mm NEIGHTO, General K himself stepped in and handed over a proper schematic. Professor LeFaucheux was publicly shamed, and SIDARME became the only arms manufacturer in NEIGHTO to go bankrupt, be sued, and have its assets siezed during the War, such was the poor state of the conversion. The second conversion was carried out at Saint Etienne arsenal, and the weapons all given to the Territorial Guards, or passed along as War Aid to other nations, only after it was absolutely assured that the weapons were as 100% reliable as the original Patton on which it was designed. 12 un-converted Pattons were retained at technical institutes and military arsenals as a lesson in how NOT to engineer a firearm.

Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Etienne (FA-MASE F1)
WEAPON TYPE: Assault Rifle
MANUFACTURERS: Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Etienne
VARIANT MARKS: No official mark variations
CALIBER: 7x40mm NEIGHTO
CAPACITY: 30 Round Detachable Box Magazine
EFFECTIVE RANGE: 400 meters
BARREL LENGTH: 432mm/17 inches
OVERALL LENGTH: 650mm/25.6 inches
OVERALL HEIGHT: 210mm/8.27 inches
TOTAL MASS: 8.1lbs/3.68kg
The FA-MASE represents.. an unusual take on firearms in Equus. A bullpup design (the only one as of 1005 C.S.), the F1 still uses the "trigger bar" type mechanism found on all other rifles. A U-shaped magazine release behind the grip allows a magazine to be ejected by either hoof, or the mouth. The prominent bolt handle allows easy cocking. Very short as far as assault rifles go, they're actually short enough to allow them to be used by Paratroopers. Well balanced, compact, and capable of launching Rifle Grenades, the FA-MASE is an excellent package, though the ergonomics do suffer for all its positive points. Unlike the Earthly FA MAS rifle, the FA-MASE can use standard 7mm NEIGHTO with no issue, even if the Prench do produce a unique looking magaizne, it's completely cross compatible with all NEIGHTO 7mm rifles.

Fusil de prècision Modéle №2 (FP-2)
WEAPON TYPE: Precision Rifle (Straight Pull Bolt-Action)
MANUFACTURERS: Manufacture d'Armes de Saint Chamond
VARIANT MARKS: No official mark variations
CALIBER: 9x48mm Equestrian
CAPACITY: 10 Round Detachable Box Magazine
EFFECTIVE RANGE: 800 meters
BARREL LENGTH: 530mm/20.8 inches
OVERALL LENGTH: 876mm/34.5 inches
OVERALL HEIGHT: 118mm/4.64 inches
TOTAL MASS: 9lbs/4.08kg
Unqiue is the order of the day with Prench firearms. The FP-2 replaces the initially sent "Sniper Sherman" rifles in 7mm NEIGHTO (designated FP-1), but uses the 9mm Equestrian caliber, making Prance the only other NEIGHTO nation to do so as of 1005 C.S. Like the Canidan Timberwolf, the FP-2 is a bolt action weapon, but a straight-pull. This means that the bolt handle is pulled straight back after each shot. The FP-2 has an automatic bolt return, meaning it does not have to be guided forwards, and the bolt can be locked with a tab just ahead of the bolt handle. For simplicity, the FP-2 was designed to use "Super Sherman" magazines.

Fusil de Chasse Modéle №1 (FC-1)
WEAPON TYPE: Combat Shotgun
MANUFACTURERS: Manufacture d'Armes de Tulle
CALIBER: 12 Gauge, 76mm/3 inch
CAPACITY: 6 Shell Detachable Tube Magazine
EFFECTIVE RANGE: 50/120 meters (shell dependant)
BARREL LENGTH: 457mm/18 inches
OVERALL LENGTH: 852mm/33.5 inches
OVERALL HEIGHT: 210mm/8.26 inches
TOTAL MASS: 8.7lbs/4kg
The Tulle FC-1 shotgun is essentially a Chaffee shotgun in a new shell. Tulle recieved the plans to construct the Chaffee, but decided on a wooden stock and foregrip instead. The FC-1 is also sold commercially. The weapon is standard issue to Engineer units, Gendarmes, and Prance's Gardes Territoriales (their equivalent to Militia).

Lance-Roquettes Anti-Char Modéle №1/100mm (LRAC-1/100)
WEAPON TYPE: Anti-Tank Rocket Launcher
MANUFACTURERS: Luchair S.A.
CALIBER: 40/100mm
CAPACITY: 1 Round
EFFECTIVE RANGE: 200 meters
BARREL LENGTH: 1m/39.37 inches
OVERALL LENGTH: 1m/39.37 inches
OVERALL HEIGHT: 270mm/10.6 inches
TOTAL MASS: 7.9lbs/3.6kg
The Luchair LRAC-100 is a purpose-made anti-tank weapon system replacing the earlier Armbrust, which was essentially a Walker with extended range (90m). While the Armbrust was supposed to be updated, the Luchair company approached the Prench army with this radically improved weapon system. The dual fin sets on the rear, canted to an angle, impart a very precise spin to the projectile, increasing its mechanical precision. The 100mm warhead is purely anti-tank, and travels at 200 meters-per-second, after a preliminary launching charge 'pops' the rocket from the launcher out to 10 meters, increasing safety and eliminating most of the backblast. When the launching charge fires, the rocket ejects from the tube, and the fins instantly pop out and impart spin (already started inside the barrel by the fin's discarding sabot sheath). The main charge then fires, and the rocket reaches its point-of-aim in exactly one second, with a precision tighter than 6 inches (150mm) from center-of-aim. The 100mm rocket can penetrate 180mm/7.1 inches of hardened armor plate. This is enough to take down a Tirek "Heavy Tank" from the sides or rear.

Arme Automatique Modéle №1 (AA-1)
WEAPON TYPE: Medium Machine Gun
MANUFACTURERS: Manufacture d'armes de Saint-Etienne
VARIANT MARKS: No official mark variations
CALIBER: 7x40mm NEIGHTO
CAPACITY: Non-Disintegrating Metal Linked Belt, 60/120/240 round containers
EFFECTIVE RANGE: 400 meters (point target) - 800 meters (area target)
BARREL LENGTH: 530mm/20.8 inches
OVERALL LENGTH: 950mm/37.4 inches
OVERALL HEIGHT: 252mm/9.92 inches
TOTAL MASS: 16lbs/7.25kg
Simplicity and light weight were the design intentions behind the AA-1. A modified version with a shorter barrel was developed as a short-lived "fighter harness" for Pegasi, but it was neither fielded, nor extensively produced, before proper aircraft became available. The AA-1 has a longer barrel than most other machine guns of its class, and is fairly long overall, but it does have a folding stock, making transport easier. Its stability and tendency to resist overheating, however, makes up for this shortcoming.
